Handwritten

In 2015, I took the biggest professional leap of my life: leaving higher education for a career in recruiting.

I had no sales experience and no guarantees this risk would pay off. What I did have was determination—a promise to myself that if I was going to do this and I was going to do it differently.

From the very beginning, I committed to one thing: authenticity. I never wanted to sound like a pushy salesperson or a slick recruiter. I just wanted to be Alex.

That mindset shaped everything. I chased every opportunity to learn from successful recruiters, to refine my skills, and to get better at the craft. And when success finally came, it meant everything—because I had earned it.

Recruiting didn’t just give me a career. It gave me comfort and freedom—the kind of wealth that goes beyond money. Early in my adult life, I thought being “rich” meant having a big bank account. But I’ve realized it means much more: providing for my loved ones, traveling in comfort, and giving back to the people who helped me along the way.

Every placement I make is a reflection of that belief. A company grows stronger, a candidate advances their career, and I provide for my family. That’s a true win-win-win.

When I made my first placement in March 2016, I asked myself how I could stand out in an industry full of noise.

My answer: a handwritten note.

Thanking the company for the opportunity, thanking the candidate for their trust. Because of them, I can provide for my daughter. In a world overflowing with emails, posts, and DMs, real connection still matters.

The truth is, the key to standing out isn’t being flashy or loud. It’s being genuine. It’s being grateful. It’s being you.

So if you’ve ever received a letter from me—thank you. You’ve impacted my life more than you know, and I’ll always be grateful.

Alex
